White paper "From device data to smart information"
Tiny sensors, complex machines, high-resolution cameras – the number of devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) is growing rapidly. International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that by the year 2025, 41.6 million devices will be communicating with the Internet of Things, generating 79.4 zettabytes of data. In comparison, global data volumes right now are around 50 zettabytes. The question is: How can these masses of data be utilised in a purposeful manner for planning and production?
You’re familiar with EPLAN as an advocate of consistent data models. This is because the more consistently you can work with the available data, the more effective your control cabinet designs will be. But this fact is just one of many building blocks for your company. We’d like to use this white paper to place this piece of the puzzle into a larger context and show you why data quality and data depth mean more than just accurate engineering.
