EPLAN Experience
Step by Step to More Efficiency
EPLAN Experience is a concept that provides you with specific recommendations for action for process optimisation. It shows you how you can work in a functionally structured way and follow common standards. You can use this solid foundation to increase your engineering efficiency step by step.
Eight Fields of Action Tailored to Your Priorities
EPLAN Experience’s focus is on eight fields of action. This can be a specific subject area in your company, or a process that shows the potential for optimised engineering. Everything can be implemented, but it doesn’t have to be. The concept has an open design: your tasks and assignments determine the need for action – regardless of company size, location or industry.
IT Infrastructure
The IT Infrastructure field of action deals with the complete integration of EPLAN software into your company’s IT environment. This ensures an extremely high-performance IT infrastructure with a clear and dependable installation and updating process.
Product Structure
The Product Structure field of action provides you with a clearly defined methodology for structuring your machines and systems. It is based on a clear product and technology structure, plus understandable product designations.
Platform Setup
The Platform Setup field of action equips your engineering with application-specific program configuration. The goal: to create the ideal working environment. Furthermore, your teams are supported in the optimal definition and implementation of your platform settings.
Codes & Standards
The Codes & Standards field of action supports you with guidelines for the optimal creation and use of your device data as well as master data. This enables you to apply and comply with international codes and standards for documentation and manufacturing – for instance IEC 81346 or NFPA/JIC.
Design Methods
The Design Methods field of action provides your design engineering teams with the most efficient methods for completing their engineering assignments. This reduces the effort and time needed for project planning.
Workflow
The Workflow field of action enables step-by-step evaluation and automation of engineering processes. Using scripting or API, your electrical engineering design can accelerate the engineering process while simultaneously ensuring data consistency.
Process Integration
The Process Integration field of action supports the integration of engineering data and workflows into your business processes. This potential is exploited by intelligently connecting design engineering to ERP and PDM.
Project Management
The Project Management field of action helps you achieve the desired maximisation of your productivity in an ideal amount of time. You receive a comprehensive project plan based on standardised implementation processes. Our consulting team will be happy to support you.
EPLAN consulting guides you to efficient engineering with the EPLAN Experience concept, consisting of four steps with two topics each over six months. Geared to your company’s individual design engineering and manufacturing processes, we support you with standardisation and automation along your value chain. Foregoing a long trial-and-error process, your staff will benefit from our EPLAN experts’ many years of experience and will be able to begin their automated day-to-day work in the new software environment almost immediately. The following “Best Practices” graphic gives you an idea of what our consulting services using the 4.2.6 Method could look like at your company.
Efficient Entry into the EPLAN Project Environment
With the professional setup of your EPLAN software and adopting the central administration of products and settings, we create a solid foundation for your integrated project environment. Once specific master data, system data and device data have all been created, we establish company-wide standards and templates for all your projects. After this, we introduce your employees to EPLAN’s efficient, library-oriented working methods. Even inexperienced users will quickly be able to create their own first EPLAN Projects without having to spend a lot of time trying out the systems. This structured approach provides you with time savings of up to 50 per cent for software implementation.
Design Methods Using Global Standards
We set up your documentation to meet global standards. As part of this we go in-depth into the documentation codes IEC 81346 and EN 61355. Your machines and plant systems will be functionally structured. Next, we create your company-specific project master data and build libraries with re-usable circuit templates. Workflows for PLC, wires, plugs, connectors, etc. are all clearly defined. This creates the foundation for automated order processing and smoother workflows, all while improving the quality of your documentation.
Direct Manufacturing Integration
Now things are going into the third dimension: We prepare your schematics so that manufacturing information can be derived from them, evaluate wiring lists and generate automatic labelling for wires. The part master is prepared in 3D for project planning, as are the mounting layouts. Finally, NC terminals for machining centres and conductor length determination are carried out via routing. This way you have all the schematic and manufacturing information in a project within the shortest amount of time and reduce your processing times with digital documentation.
Automation
You can achieve up to 80 per cent time savings with the automatic generation of EPLAN Projects as compared to traditional engineering – analysing your order handling processes and refreshing the product structures and libraries quickly pays off! By building a configuration model, we automate your processes step by step and do it while ensuring optimal usability. This is how you can achieve the highest level of process standardisation and put the finishing touches to your engineering processes.
