You’ve received this offer because you’re an EPLAN customer and have a current service contract for your software licences. We refer to this service contract as the EPLAN Software Service. With your Software Service contract, you’ve chosen to be able to upgrade your EPLAN software on an ongoing basis.
On 1 August 2021, we changed our software licences to a subscription model. That is why we’re offering you the opportunity to change to the subscription service in the offer letter.
Subscription means that we are offering our software exclusively on a subscription basis. This means you can no longer obtain new licences as a “purchased licence”. Instead, you must purchase a subscription for using licences.
Cloud technology has become a major trend in the software industry. In combination with digitalisation, this is paving new pathways for companies to do business. As the market leader for engineering software, this ensures that our portfolio and our business model are aligned with this trend.
That is why EPLAN is already offering you numerous cloud solutions that you can also access through the EPLAN Platform. We will continue to be expanding these in the coming years. Since there aren’t any ownership rights to services in the cloud, these services are provided exclusively via subscriptions. That’s why new EPLAN licences can now only be purchased through a subscription.
With a subscription, you always have access to the current version of your EPLAN applications, including support services. This means you always have access to newly developed functions while your data is protected by up-to-date security measures. Your data is your intellectual property, which is securely stored and processed in our system. You can access your projects both locally and also in the EPLAN Cloud, at any time and from any location.
For new users, the entry threshold for EPLAN software is lower than ever thanks to the subscriptions. Subscriptions also offer more flexibility for current customers: the number of licences can be scaled with more flexibility as demand changes. New EPLAN Platform solutions can be tried out more easily since the period of use can be limited. The transparent pricing of our subscriptions also allows you to better calculate your software budget.

You are free to choose whether you want to change your Software Service contract to a subscription or prefer to you keep using your current licences. Even if you continue to rely on your EPLAN Software Service contract, you will still receive software updates as usual and can use our services. Attached to your offer you will find a custom cost overview for your Software Service contract and future price adjustments. However, we would like to take this opportunity to again point out the comprehensive added value subscriptions offer.
Even with the subscriptions, our EPLAN Platform solutions are currently installed locally in your systems or on your network, we call this on-premises. As a complement to this, we are now also offering numerous cloud solutions.
The fact is that business processes are increasingly data driven and based in the cloud. This means that cloud solutions are becoming more and more important and increasingly relevant for business processes.
