EPLAN at the SPS in Nuremburg
A look at the trends in engineering
The pathway to industrialisation and to more efficient product development leads through three central steps: digitisation, standardisation and automation. Solutions provider EPLAN will be presenting innovative concepts and solutions in all three of these areas at this year’s SPS trade show. They range from EPLAN Platform 2.9, the freemium software EPLAN eBUILD and the “Let’s EPLAN” user portal, to integrated value chains with Rittal. A new data standard and a preview of the coming Data Portal round off this year’s themes.
Monheim, 28 October 2019 – At this year’s SPS trade show in Nuremburg, Germany, EPLAN will be focusing on a variety of product innovations and trending topics. EPLAN Platform, with its technical innovations in Version 2.9, is being expanded by the EPLAN ePULSE cloud system, which ensures unlimited data access and future-oriented collaboration. The opportunities the cloud provides can be experienced hands-on at SPS: a new data standard is being launched at SPS that raises EPLAN Data Portal to an unprecedented level of quality. Users can look forward to a preview of the upcoming version of the portal in Nuremburg, which is getting a completely new interface and, moving forward, will also be including numerous manufacturer catalogues according to the new standard. Rittal is already providing data based on eCl@ss Advanced at SPS. EPLAN is additionally already in discussions with numerous manufacturers who are actively implementing the new standard.
Another cloud-based announcement is the launch of EPLAN eBUILD, a software to generate electrical schematics and fluid power schematics. This brand-new freemium software lets users take their first steps in the context of cloud technologies and provides an exciting path into the future of engineering.
Topics for managers and users
A Future Lab will be set up at the trade show stand in Nuremburg for management-level discussions in the areas of digitisation, data and cloud technologies amongst other topics. Trade show attendees can also visit the Efficiency Lab, where they can compare their individual engineering processes in conversation with EPLAN experts. The integrated value chain demonstrates potential synergies with affiliate Rittal: the entire process – from procurement to manufacturing, operations and engineering in control cabinet manufacturing is going digital and becoming highly automated. A trending topic in this area is digital information management, which is bringing into being the digital control cabinet documentation repository. In addition, EPLAN will also be holding several side events about EPLAN eVIEW and EPLAN eBUILD, not to mention building automation with EPLAN Preplanning. And, last but not least, component manufacturers are also invited to the EPLAN Data Portal Brunch.
Let’s EPLAN
Another conceptual area for the trade show appearance is under the slogan “Let’s EPLAN”, where users can take a deep dive into the many new features of Version 2.9. The “Let’s EPLAN” user portal, which has been integrated into EPLAN software since the beginning of 2019, can be tried out directly. Around 18,000 users have already accessed the portal and around 10,000 of them regularly use “Let’s EPLAN”. The portal provides users helpful tips and tricks for the software and has more than 250 tutorials in which users can familiarise themselves with the new functions in the various software solutions. It provides practical assistance in day-to-day project planning and increases efficiency in engineering over the long term. Furthermore, users can find current information about new features, event dates and invitations directly in the user interface.
